Welcome to The Eastchester SEPTA Website! 

 

 

SEPTA is a Parent Teacher Association within a school district that brings together people who are interested in special education and children with special needs. 

 

SEPTA supports, strenghtens and promotes the welfare of children with special needs. 

 

SEPTA promotes an understanding of special education and strives to enrich the lives of children with special needs.

The Goals of SEPTA:  

-->To ensure that all children receive an education that allows them to reach their full potential.

-->To bring together parents, families and teachers of children with special needs in order to share their experiences.

-->To educate parents about special education, including the identification and placement procedures for children with special needs.

-->To inform legislators, school boards, and the community about the importance of special education programs.

-->To improve the lives of children by providing cultural, social and physical enrichment.

-->To advocate for children with special needs and their right to a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.

Eastchester Students Perform Two Original Songs At Lincoln Center Awards Ceremony on December 7, 2011!  

The Eastchester School District, its Special Education PTA and the Music Conservatory of Westchester’s Music Therapy Institute have been named as recipients of the ASCAP Foundation

Barbara and John LoFrumento Award this year. Melissa Schur, a special ed teacher at Anne Hutch, accepted the award on behalf of the winners at the 16th annual ASCAP Awards ceremony held at the Lincoln Center on December 7.

Eastchester students, (pictured above left to right) Andrew Napolitano (AH) Marcos Spinetti (AH), Jake Rooney (AH), Jakob Loerker (EMS), Paul Evangelista (EMS)and Michael Asher (AH) performed two original songs at the ceremony, along with their instructor, Lisa Sandagata (from the Music Conservatory of Westchester), written during the Music Therapy sessions sponsored by Eastchester SEPTA and ASCAP.

ASCAP CEO John LoFrumento and his wife Barbara are longtime Eastchester residents who established the award to help support music therapy sessions for special needs students in the Eastchester schools.

Eastchester SEPTA Beneficiary of 6th Annual Mickey Spillane’s Golf Outing!

Mickey Spillane’s 6th Annual Golf Outing was held on September 12, 2011 at Lake Isle County Club where over $7000 was raised to benefit Eastchester SEPTA. The check was awarded to the SEPTA executive board on Friday, October 28th at Mickey’s.  A heartfelt thank you goes out to Stephen Carty, Mike Heinz and the wonderful staff at Mickey's for their continued support and generosity.

SEPTA congratulates Theresa Cherry,principal of The Anne Hutchinson School, for being honored by the Westchester Foundation for Autism (WFA) on Sunday, November 6th at their 12th Annual "Celebration of Hope" Gala held at Beckwith Pointe in New Rochelle. Mrs. Cherry received an award for "Outstanding Service in the Community. Congrats Mrs. Cherry!
